Without a doubt, 2020 has been a roller coaster of a year for most of us. As Durango adapted to the changes and unpredictable nature of COVID, we were excited to see a recent article published by the Durango Herald, suggesting we have already endured the worst of the financial hit.
The Herald states that La Plata County is on track to exceed sales tax projections. This is a fantastic sign as to the health of our local economy. As we have discussed throughout the last handful of months, one of the benefits of our area is the ability to enjoy a variety of activities and still be social distanced. Others feel the same way, as tourism has stayed steady. Our outdoor adventures, unique restaurants, beautiful weather, and quaint local charm all make Durango a perfect getaway (and place to live)!
We are excited to see this positive news, and are also grateful to be in a community that rallies together to support local businesses. We remain optimistic that Durango will continue to stay strong despite the challenging aspects this year has brought.
