Fourth of July week is upon us, and even though this year may look a little different, there are still plenty of options in and around Durango to celebrate the holiday. The annual fireworks show will not be occurring this year due to fire danger, but we’ve added some other ideas below to enjoy the weekend.
Hiking is a fantastic way to enjoy the area. We suggest packing a picnic and spending the day outside. Consider ordering takeout from a local restaurant then launching into an adventure. Lake Nighthorse and Vallecito are also perfect places to explore beautiful scenery and hikes, as well as water sports such as fishing, kayaking, stand up paddle boarding, and more.
Mild to Wild will be offering a 4th of July Durango River Parade. There are a handful of time slots from which to choose and participants dress up in their festive 4th of July gear. Kids even get a souvenir!
Of course, many people love celebrating the holiday at home with a BBQ and gorgeous weather. However you choose to enjoy the weekend, we hope it’s a fantastic celebration!
