Winter has finally arrived and ski season is upon us. Purgatory has gotten 8” of snow this last weekend with more falling today and snow making is underway. 24 of the 105 trails are open up at Purgatory, giving you plenty of terrain to explore for early season skiing. If hitting the slopes doesn’t excite you there are plenty of activities for you to enjoy, take a ride on a snowmobile, tube down the sledding hill, sleigh rides, Nordic skiing, and snowshoe tours are a few to choose from. For lift tickets, specials, events COVID-19 restrictions and more go to https://www.purgatoryresort.com/ .
Drive an hour and a half from Durango and find yourself at Wolf Creek ski area. The year to date snow fall at Wolf Creek is currently 126” and historically the area gets some of the best snow in the state. If you are looking for more than snowboarding or skiing you can also enjoy Nordic ski trails and tons of snowmobile terrain. One of the greatest perks to skiing at Wolf Creek is going to Pagosa Springs Hot Springs on your way home after a long day on the slopes for a relaxing soak. There are amazing ski areas all around Colorado and we are lucky to have these two in our own backyard.
