Good news keeps coming for Durango’s reopening in the wake of Coronavirus. The Durango Business Improvement District has created a program that allows businesses to utilize outdoor space along Main Street and adjacent parts of right of ways. Named “Bump Outs for Businesses,” this is a way to allow downtown businesses to continue operating and honor social distancing. Some restaurants will even sell liquor outside, allowing a unique outdoor eating experience. In addition to creative uses of space, a helpful map indicates possible parking areas for various days of the week and best spots to find.
In addition to creative ways for businesses to operate, the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad is now open! This is an iconic symbol of Durango, and such a cornerstone of our economy. With the train now offering service, we are confident tourism will continue to increase, thus propelling Durango towards its normal rhythm.
Summertime is one of the best times of year in Durango. With the warm days and clean air, there’s so much to do and see. Whether you’re adventuring outside, or enjoying our local shops and restaurants, there is no shortage of activities and entertainment.
