Music in the Mountains is a Durango summer tradition. With COVID impacting the experience this year, the organizers have found a way to bring the musical experience into your own home! This Thursday, September 10 from 7-8 pm, you can enjoy a free “in home” concert on You Tube called “Music in the Mountains Pops Night.” Take3 Trio will perform this event. After the concert, there will be an online auction.
Music in the Mountains provides many benefits to Durango. Aside from the annual celebration of music and culture, Music in the Mountains seeks “To produce an exceptional summer music festival with musicians of the highest caliber; entertain, educate and delight audiences with the richness of classical music, and complement concerts with year-round educational programs for youth” (https://www.musicinthemountains.com/mission.php). Music in the Mountains started back in 1987, and over the years they have included family concerts and maintained a presence in local schools.
The Pops Night online auction includes artwork, golf packages, dining, coffee, and food, and even an overnight at the Strater Hotel. These items allow a fun experience or unique purchase, and contribute to a great local nonprofit organization.
