In the last couple of weeks, many of us have had to shift our way of life and learn to practice social distancing. It is in times like these that we are ever reminded of the benefits of living in Durango. Our location allows us ample ways to enjoy the outdoors without crowds of people. Within close proximity to town, we have Animas Mountain, a local hiking trail. In town, there’s the Animas River Trail, which allows an opportunity to be outside without being close to other people. Of course, as the weather turns, we will have more hiking trails open to explore.
In addition to hiking and outdoor exploring, local golf is an option. Hillcrest Golf Club will be open weather-permitting.
Of course, we are a small town and do our best to support local small businesses. During this time, many restaurants are offering to-go options, and this may be an excellent way to help others in our town. We have a list of some of the (many) restaurants open and serving our community. Many of them have supported fundraisers and city events over the years. These are unique times for all of us, but we are thankful for where we live, the variety and beauty of our hometown, and a community of people who truly care about others.
