Joy Hess and Christine Mullholand decided to give us the gift of being puzzled. Since 2016, the duo has been producing one-of-a-kind puzzles through their retail store Joyful Nook Galley. The boutique store sells everything from stationary products like cards, stamps, and calligraphy pens to journals, specialty papers, and – of course – puzzles. These puzzles are manufactured in Durango by a collaboration of local artists and special puzzle piece designers. Then, using a high-end laser cutter, these intricate, theme driven pieces are cut out of ¼ inch birch plywood. The company has coined the term “Gozintas” stemming from “goes into” meaning the uniquely themed puzzle pieces go into each other creating the final masterpiece.
There is really no way to explain the complexity and brilliance behind these puzzles but we sure love them! Whether you take on the challenge yourself or gift one of these locally produced art pieces, we think that you will love the final product! Don’t hesitate to reach out with questions about Durango’s art and retail community.
