After two weekends of heavy rains and high water levels, the Durango, Southwest Colorado, and greater four corners region has been severely affected.
As of yesterday, we are seeing some precipitation reprieve although mass amounts of flooding in the Animas Valley, along Junction & Lightner Creeks, Aztec, Farmington, Mancos, Pagosa Springs, and beyond have already occurred and continue as water ways have changed. It’s absolutely devastating and our thoughts and hearts go out to all who have endured any level of hardship from these events.
While we don’t yet know the full extent of the flooding and damage, we know the days and weeks ahead will be challenging for many in our community. You can keep updated on the La Plata County website for road closures, shelter locations, assistance & resources, and volunteer opportunities here:

Whether friends, family, neighbors, or strangers, Durango is our community that shows up for one another. A phone or text checking on each other can mean so much during times like these. Thank you to the first responders, volunteers, and the whole community for supporting each other in times like these. We hope you stay safe and take care of one another.
