Duranglers has been a place to go since 1983 for fly fishing supplies and guided trips. On April 5th - 6th they will be hosting the Fly Flyfishing Festival which includes classes, demos, deals, and other fishing fun. Celebrating 40 years, they have new products, giveaways, lunch, and the International Fly Fishing Film Festival to look forward to.
A dark sky is important as light pollution harms both the natural nighttime landscape and environment. Dark Sky International and subcompany Dark Sky Colorado aim to educate, advocate, and conserve our dark skies. The certification is given to places who take certain measures to protect their dark skies. Durango is actively working toward obtaining this certification and is hosting an event April 12th from 6 - 8:30 pm at The Powerhouse in collaboration with Visit Durango and Dark Sky Colorado. This will be the opening ceremony to the new exhibit “Sun, Earth, Universe”. Interactive, informative, and exciting, this free event is fun for the whole family!
Pond skimming is when a skier or snowboarder attempts to glide their way through a pond on the speed built from coming down the hill. This is Purgatory’s end-of-season event on April 14th from 12:30 - 3 pm. The day will be full of costumes, wipeouts, music, and prizes! The water is cold and maybe filled with alligators?!
