Spring is officially here and the events do not disappoint! Durango and the surrounding area are full of things to do this coming month. Check out our favorites below.
Battle of the Bands
The youth music scene takes center stage on April 10th with Stillwater Music’s Battle of the Bands. Eleven bands are competing to raise the most funds, win over the crowd, and showcase their creativity through costumes and stage presence. The competition starts at 7 pm at Miller Middle School with free admission. A fundraiser for Stillwater Music - a local 501(c)(3) that provides kids and adult lessons, community events, and scholarships - this friendly battle is sure to wow!
Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad - Historic Tacoma Power Plant
A special fundraising trip benefiting the Animas Museum and the Southwest Colorado Humanities Roundtable, this excursion offers a chance to learn more about Southwest history at the Historic Tacoma Power Plant, about halfway between Durango and Silverton, CO. Departing at 9:15 am on April 21st, this five-hour excursion includes a local historian, an Xcel Energy representative, and ride on the famous Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad.
iAM Music Fest
The iAM Music Festival takes over downtown Durango April 30th - May 3rd. Eight stages will be hosting over 25 bands including local talent and traveling musicians. With a plethora of genres, the diversity is evident and continues to amplify creativity within the music industry and community. This popular event benefits iAM Music and their mission of music education, scholarships, and performance opportunities.
