Snowdown is here! This week, the 47th annual winter celebration bridges January and February and offers tons of events throughout town through the end of the weekend, Feb 1. Following Snowdown, there are many other local events, especially around Valentine’s Day. Even with an unusually warm and dry winter, the greater Durango area still has plenty of fun things to do with friends, family, and the community.
Valentine’s Day Events
- Make a flower crown, sip, snack, and connect with others at April’s Garden on February 12th. From 5:30 - 7 pm, you can join this creative Galentine’s Day activity and take home memories, new skills, and your own crown.
- Adela Flora is hosting a Mob Wife floral arranging event in both Durango on February 12th and Pagosa on the 19th. Take an edgier and sophisticated look at flowers, pop some bubbles, and enjoy this outing with friends!
- Capture the love with a mini photo session with Allison Ragsdale at Animas Chocolate Company on February 12th. This sweet deal includes a 20-minute session, 10 photos, and special deals on flowers and chocolates.
Durango Public Library - Book Club: Childhood Favorites
Join together and reminisce about your favorite childhood books at this “nontraditional” book club. Instead of everyone reading the same book to discuss, this event encourages attendees to bring and share their favorite book as a kid and how those books shaped them. Hosted at Bread in downtown on February 17th from 6 - 7:30, this is a great opportunity to gather and meet new people, talk about books, and enjoy some homemade goodies.
Fort Lewis College Alumni Ski Day & Apres Ski Party
Alumni from Durango’s own Fort Lewis College can gather on February 22nd at Purgatory Ski Resort for a reunion on the slopes. Discounted lift tickets and overnight packages are available for alumni, as well as an apres ski party at Hoody’s with pizza, drinks, and giveaways. All FLC alumni are welcome, no matter your degree or graduating year.
