It’s Snowdown week, which leads us right into February, and there is no shortage of community activities to enjoy. Seasonal favorites like the D&SNGRR Cascade Train and the many live music concerts are always crowd pleasers, and here are some more upcoming events in Southwest Colorado in February 2025.
Galentine's Flower Workshop
Celebrate Galentine’s Day with Adela Flora’s bouquet workshops! On February 12th at 5:30 PM at their studio on North Main, you’ll design your pick of petite, medium, or premium arrangements, and choose from different flower types and sizes to learn floral design techniques. On February 13th, they will collaborate with the Mesa Verde Motel in Mancos, CO at 5:30 PM, which includes French rose champagne and appetizers at the M Bar while learning how to design a bouquet. Space is limited so sign up soon!
Mardi Gras Gala
Get into the Mardi Gras spirit at the Mardi Gras Gala, hosted by the Durango High School PTO. While the holiday officially falls on March 4th - due to a later equinox - this event will take place on February 20 from 6:00 to 9:00 PM at the Powerhouse Museum. This fun evening features entertainment, food, drinks, and a silent auction, all in a festive Mardi Gras atmosphere - costumes are highly encouraged! Tickets to the in-person event and/or just the online silent auction are available for purchase. All proceeds benefit the teachers, staff, and students at Durango High School via the DHS PTO.
Dave Spencer Classic
This year marks the 27th anniversary of the Dave Spencer Classic on February 22. This fun and festive ski “race” benefits Adaptive Sports Association, which provides outdoor, sport, and recreational experiences and opportunities for people with disabilities in our community and beyond. Individual and team registration to participate in the event is free, although suggested donations and additional fundraising opportunities are encouraged. The race down the NASTAR course at Purgatory Ski Resort begins at 9 am preceded by a Welcome Party the day before and an Awards Party the day after. Awards for best costumes, fundraising, and more are up for grabs!
Please don’t hesitate to contact Max Hutcheson and Deven Meininger at The Durango Team for more information on things to do in Durango and the surrounding area.
