Summer is in full swing with a jam-packed event calendar for Durango and the greater Southwest Colorado area. There’s plenty to do and lots to celebrate this coming month. Here are a few of our favorite July 2026 events.
Durango Brewer’s Trail Series
This three-part race series combines local trails and great beer, all benefitting local nonprofits. Kicking off on July 2, the first 5-mile race takes you through Horse Gulch and is hosted by Anarchy Brewing, with proceeds going to the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Relatives Task Force (MMIR). The second race is a 10k through Twin Buttes with a SKA after-party that benefits the La Plata County Humane Society on July 23. High Trestle Brewing hosts the finale, a 5k loop through the Test Tracks in Overend Park on July 30, benefitting The Hive. These well-marked, in-town courses will be professionally timed by Black Bear Events & Timing with post-race celebrations, swag, and awards. You can register for just one race, two, or all three for a fun July race series!
Animus on the Animas
The 3rd annual Animus on the Animas, hosted by The Good Fight Boxing Club, is a USA Boxing-sanctioned amateur showcase that attracts officials, athletes, coaches, and families from multiple states. On July 3, gates open at 4 p.m. with the event starting at 5 p.m. in front of the iconic Jack Dempsey mural on Main Avenue and 10th Street. Ticket sales benefit the club and its boxing scholarship fund.
Fourth of July Events
This year marks America’s 250th Anniversary as well as Colorado's 150th - a sesquisemiquincentennial celebration. On July 4, Durango and many Southwest Colorado communities will be hosting a plethora of events and festivities. You can compete in a Freedom 5k, indulge in a pancake breakfast, and pick your favorite (or try something new) parade in Bayfield, Silverton, or right here in Durango. The City of Durango’s Four Days of the Fourth include a scavenger hunt, live music, pie eating contests, and more community gatherings.
KSUT 21st Annual Party in the Park
Join KSUT Four Corners Public Radio in Buckley Park on July 25 from 2-9 p.m. for music by Cha Wa and MarchFourth. There will be food, music, and fun in the park for all. Tickets are just $25 and on sale now!
As always, there are plenty of community events and things to do in Durango this summer. For more information about visiting or living in Southwest Colorado, please don’t hesitate to contact The Durango Team at The Wells Group.
