Spring is in full swing in Durango and the surrounding areas, and May is packed with ways to soak it all in. From outdoor concerts to beloved annual festivals, there’s no shortage of ways to celebrate the season. Here are a few of our top picks for community events coming up this month.
Zia Taqueria 20th Anniversary Fiesta
Zia Taqueria, one of Durango’s favorite locally owned and operated restaurants, is celebrating its 20th Anniversary! Since 2005, they’ve been serving up fast and fresh Mexican food made with simple, local, and healthy ingredients. The Fundraising Fiesta begins on May 2nd at their North Main Cantina location with live music, tacos, beverages, churros, limited edition swag, kids activities, and ice cream. They will be raising funds to support the Boys & Girls Club and Big Brothers Big Sisters throughout the weekend festivities.
Dandelion Festival
The 16th Annual Dandelion Festival on May 3rd will include music, food vendors, local artisans, performances, and a dandelion beer garden brewed by Carvers Brewing. Hosted by Turtle Lake Refuge, this free community event in Rotary Park is a great way to celebrate local flora and organic stewardship.
Spring Fair at Fox Fire Farms
Fox Fire Farms - a gorgeous winery just to the southeast of Ignacio - is hosting their Spring Fair on May 17th. This event will feature the debut of their new wines, and include live music, food vendors, horse drawn carriages, local artists, and a glimpse into the farm’s history. Enjoy the lovely spring weather at this Southwest Colorado gem!
Don’t miss out on these and other upcoming events in May. Please reach out to The Durango Team at The Wells Group for more information on things to do in the area, we’d love to help you make the most of everything our community has to offer.
