Dandelion Festival
Rotary Park is the place to be from 1 - 7pm May 2nd. The Dandelion Festival, hosted by Turtle Lake Refuge, is a free event with music, art, meditation, and youth activities highlighting spring and organic stewardship. Eight performances, including live bands and May pole dancers, plus food vendors, artisan stands, a thrift store, and a beer garden will make for a great afternoon.
San Juan Mountain Association - Nature Center Opening Day
The San Juan Mountains Association (SJMA) offers a fantastic lineup of events this month for nature lovers and outdoor explorers. The spring and summer season kicks off on May 9th with their Nature Center’s opening day celebration. From 10am - 2 pm, there will be crafts, archery, guided hikes, and more - perfect for all ages! Throughout the coming months, they will be hosting additional events such as guided nature hikes, history lectures, bird outings, full moon hikes, and more.
Cinco de Mayo Celebrations
Durango is known for its festive atmosphere, and there are lots of community parties to celebrate Cinco de Mayo! Known for its locally sourced food and delicious margaritas, Zia Cantina is turning 21 on May 5th for a double fiesta. $5 margaritas all day, plus tacos and churros on the patio, is the perfect way to celebrate. Cinco de Paw-yo Photos at Bark Bark is a fun opportunity to capture a photo of your four-legged friend dressed up for the occasion. They have costumes and photo slots available through Saturday, May 9th.
