August starts this week with new and returning Durango and surrounding area community events! With the end of summer in sight, now’s the time to fully enjoy all our area has to offer.
Music in the Mountains - Pops Night! Star Wars vs. Star Trek
Appetizer, cocktails, dinner, and a symphony concert - in space! This incredible evening will take you out of this world as conductor Richard Kaufman, an acclaimed MGM music supervisor, leads the orchestra through the infamous Star Wars and Star Trek songs. Happening at Sky Ute Casino Resort on August 3rd, this evening will start with a multi-course, gourmet menu based on the movie’s meals. Don’t miss out on this interstellar event! San Juan Brewfest
40 breweries, 120 beers, 3 bands, 2 days, and benefits the United Way of Southwest Colorado…where can I get tickets? August 23 and 24 will be the 25th Anniversary of this fan favorite event in Buckley Park. Friday afternoon and all day Saturday will host local, Colorado, and nationwide breweries bringing their staple beverages to try. Special VIP and designated driver tickets are also available. A typically sold out event with a limited amount of tickets, get yours quickly!
Four Corner Motorcycle Rally
This year marks the 31st Anniversary of this event in Durango centered around motorcycles. Races, stunt shows, scenic rides, live music, and some of the industry’s top vendors will be available at the La Plata County Fairgrounds and Durango Harley Davidson August 29 through September 1. These four days are not lacking things to do including the Ives Brothers Wall of Death, Veterans Ride, Poker Run, Rough Stock Rodeo, Flat Track Races, and Hill Climb. The Four Corners Motorcycle Rally is a true staple in our area.
