Where is Dalton Ranch?
No more than ten miles north of Durango, the Dalton Ranch community in the Animas Valley provides an easily accessible and stunning location. Surrounded by red cliffs, the Animas River flows along the east side. From town, you can take Highway 550 for a straight shot or enjoy County Road 250 on the east or 203 on the west for a scenic route. Continue north to enjoy Purgatory Ski Resort, Silverton, CO, and many more outdoor adventures.
Dalton Ranch History
Originally part of the historic Dalton Land & Cattle Company, these 270 acres are a truly special area in the Animas Valley. It’s rumored that the infamous Dalton Gang may have also occupied the ranch along their California and Midwest travels. Nestled between the Animas River and the iconic Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad, this location is full of local history and natural beauty.
Dalton Ranch Golf Course
The public as well as club members can enjoy 18 holes on this professional managed and maintained course. Spring, summer, and fall rates for 9 and 18 holes provide ample gameplay with options and conveniences such as carts and the pro shop also available. Leagues, tournaments, and instruction is available through the Elevated Golf Academy.
Dalton Ranch Amenities
The Clubhouse at Dalton Ranch is a welcoming place to relax and dine featuring expansive views of the valley. A chef-driven, locally curated menu accompanied by an exceptional wine list and seasonal cocktail list is offered with indoor and outdoor seating. Additional onsite amenities include a 24/7 fitness room, CaliClay tennis courts, pickleball courts, and outdoor pool.
You can find a grocery market, liquor store, restaurants, gas station, and the Durango Hot Springs within a mile for added conveniences.
Dalton Ranch Membership
Both golf and social memberships are available to the public. While golf memberships primarily feature unlimited golf, social memberships are perfect for foodies, event goers, and include full access to the other club amenities.
Living in Dalton Ranch
Dalton Ranch real estate is highly coveted with a mixture of single family, townhomes, and vacant lots available. A casual, yet elevated, golf course lifestyle is accomplished here with onsite amenities, course facing homes, mature landscaping, and cart paths connecting throughout. Split into three main neighborhoods, there’s many living opportunities here.
North Dalton Ranch is the original real estate development offering timeless homes and townhomes surrounding the northern part of the property. Subdivisions including the Cottonwoods, the Greens, the Cove, the Enclaves offer niche communities, many including exterior maintenance for townhomes. Located on the north side of Trimble Lane, the same as the club house, this area is partially gated with and semi-surrounded by the back nine.
South Dalton was then added with more homes and townhomes encased by the 3rd through 8th fairways. A smaller subdivision than the north, South Dalton Ranch still includes similar living options. Aptly placed on the south side of Trimble Lane, there are beautiful open views facing south.
West Dalton Ranch is the newest addition with vacant lots and modern single family spec homes. With limited green facing lots, these are still an amazing homeownership choice in the Animas Valley.
Homeownership in the Dalton Ranch area doesn’t require or include membership, but rather are available to fully indulge in golf course living. There’s multiple Dalton Ranch Associations with separate rules and covenants. It’s important to research and understand these before purchasing, no matter what area you’re in.
