Durango Trails

Durango Trails

Durango Trails, formerly Trails 2000, is a local non profit that is dedicated to building and maintaining our local trails, as well as educating the community about our area and natural resources. Their work not only preserves and enhances the outdoors we all enjoy, but also invites both residents and visitors to experience the incredible trails that make life in Southwest Colorado so special.

Durango Trails

The original name of Trails 2000 was created in the early 1980s by four locals with a goal of creating 200 miles of trails in the Durango area by the turn of the millennium: the year 2000. Bringing on more board members, local supporters, and volunteers, trail systems like Horse Gulch and Durango Mountain Park (Overend) have been completed and were a part of completing their original mission. Now, over 30 years later with an updated name, they have successfully added over 300 miles of trails within 30 minutes of downtown Durango.
