February in Southwest Colorado is a fun season with snow sports in full swing as well as local events for everyone to enjoy. Take a look at our favorite things to do in February in Durango below.
Snowdown, Colorado’s ultimate winter celebration is underway from now until February 4th. This year marks the 45th year of the Durango event and features over 100 activities including favorites like the Follies and Fashion Do’s and Don’ts. The 2024 theme is Peace, Love, & Snowdown and you won’t want to miss the Main Street parade on Friday, February 2nd starting at 6pm.
Animas City Theater has another full month of music guests. Starting with Steely Dead, a mix of the Grateful Dead and Steely Dan, this Denver band will be playing two shows on February 1st. On February 9th, Josh Teed with Starfox & Teknique will bring a unique set to the stage including violin, didgeridoo, and live analog synthesis. February 10th is KDUR’s popular cover night, this time featuring Neil Young cover artists, with proceeds going towards the local radio station! Dirtwire - The Four Directions Tour offers a psychedelic delta blues sound played with ancient and modern instruments on February 14th. The electronic album Pocket Full of Dreams is Colorado’s Late Night Radio’s latest release and will be performed on February 16th.
Every year, the La Plata County Rotary Club and Alpine Bank team up for the Red Ball Express. Taking place February 2nd, tickets are on sale now to adopt the balls. The proceeds from this event benefit the many outreach projects and programs that the Rotary Club hosts each year. For those red ball adopters, cash prizes are in store for the first six balls down the course.
We hope you enjoy these events as well as skiing, sledding, snowshoeing, and hot chocolate drinking. Find out about more local happenings on the event calendar here and don’t hesitate to contact The Durango Team for more information.
