- Enjoy a warm beverage and/or meal on Main Street in downtown Durango. There are plenty of cafes and restaurants on Main Street to choose from, all serving up a delicious array of beverages and eats. Our local businesses work together with local farms, ranches, and other products to create one-of-a-kind recipes to enjoy.
- Purgatory Resort features lots of snowy activities. This full-service resort offers everything from skiing, snowboarding, tubing, and snowmobiling to lodging, dining, and shopping. With 105 trails and 12 lifts, Purgatory Resort accommodates all experience levels and is an amazing mountain to explore.
- Soak at the Durango Hot Springs Resort. This hotspot dates to the early 1880s and has been open for relaxing in the natural thermal springs ever since. The new ownership recently did a major renovation to create 41 pools, all containing 32 naturally occurring minerals to rejuvenate in. With a spa, bar, food truck, and live music, this is a great place to relax after a day of winter fun.
- Ride the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad. Another important piece of Durango history, this railroad arrived in Durango on August 5, 1881 and construction to Silverton started that same year. Now a scenic tourist railroad, the steam and coal powered trains take you on a journey north through beautiful valleys and mountains. The winter Cascade Canyon Winter Train trip is incredible, and many passengers come just to take a ride on the Polar Express excursion!
- Spend a day at Chapman Hill. Located in town, this is a skating rink, ski slope, and sledding hill! Offering lessons, games, and “free time” open to the public, this is a great all-in-one place to spend a snowy winter day in Durango for both adults and kids. After a full day of fun, you are close to downtown for a family outing or night-cap.
